Brierley Hill 3 Monyhull 0

At last a game! But in the wintery wonderland, was it worth the 'hulls time? Jamie Madden reports:

So the two teams arrived at the Brierly Hill stadium in tremendous sunshine. One to see if they could continue there good run of form the other just too see if they could actually get a game

Monyhull started as they meant to go on, with a late illness and late comers leaving them 12 players and some tactical switching the game started off quite scrappy before after the half hour a half hearted challenge bye A Pritchard, which was to be his last involvement in the game through injury, allowed the Brierley striker to run through and fire past Joely the goalie at his near post before he could be closed down.

Ward came on for A Pritchard on the left and N Pritchard switched back to his familiar left back role. Monyhull then sparked into life with some good passing moves and T Hales twice firing just wide of the far post, before A Ward headed at goal only to see the Keeper tip onto the bar and Monyhull were looking good.

Unfortunately Brierlys no 18 continued to pose a threat playing between the lines and trying long range shots but at half time there were calls for more of the same and keep playing and working for each other, but it just never quite happened.

Monyhull became disrupted by another injury, this time to Leigh Watts who had worked hard and played well. Then the warning sign came, Brierlys number 18 was all over the place playing the number nine in, for him to slot home. Only for Maddens confident arm in the air offside call to see it ruled out

But then, from a corner, a clearance saw the ball given away and as the defence pushed out, they saw another ball back into the box that Estridge couldn't get anything on and the number nine headed in unchallenged to an empty net. Monyhull just couldn't muster a decent effort on goal and Dolloway went off for Cropp and the pack was once again shuffled to try and get something from the game.

But with Hales picking up a knock and no more subs Brierly finished off the 'hull with a neat one two that saw the number 18 lift over the on rushing Estridge and that was that.

Everybody worked hard and with votes for Dan Burke, Tom Hales and Ryan Reeson for MOTM and no real mistakes there are positives to take to the next game whenever that may be.
